Information on Phi Phi Island
• Where is Phi Phi
Island situated?
The island is in the Andaman Sea in the south-east part of the Indian
Ocean, some 900 km south of Bangkok, the capital of the Kingdom of Thailand.
• What is the climate like?
1. From November until the middle of March is the coldest time of year
(day temperature 33° C = 91° Fahrenheit), night temperature
up to 18°C (64,5° F) with an easterly wind and beautiful weather.
2. From the middle of March until June is the hottest period (day temperature
reaches 36°C = 97° F), night temperature up to 28°C = 82°
F with plenty of sunshine, finally leading to the transition period
of the Monsoon with partly strong westerly winds and heavy showers.
3. The Monsoon (which is also called the rainy season) lasts from July
until October with day temperatures of 28° C (82° F) up to 33°C
( 91° F). Night temperatures may reach 24°C (76°F) depending
on showers. Rainfalls are mostly at night, but there can also be short,
but strong cloudbursts during the daytime.
• What is the food like on Phi
Phi Island?
One finds a typical Thai kitchen everywhere on the island. This does
not mean you have to renounce traditional western food.

• What are the health
requirements:
Your Tetanus vaccination should be up-do-date and it is recommended
to have vaccinations against polio and typhus. However, malaria prophylaxis
is not necessary.

• How does one pay in Thailand?
The local currency is called Baht. 100 Baht equal approximately 2 Euros/2.4
$/1.4 £. Visa- and Euro/Mastercard are accepted in most shops,
hotels, restaurants and exchange offices. In addition one can draw cash
without problems using an EC card.
